Happily Ever Honeymoon: Our Dream Disney Getaway

By Connor at Happily Ever After Hours

After the wedding bells fade and the last slice of cake is gone, what’s better than kicking off your forever with a little pixie dust? My wife Sara and I are heading out on the honeymoon of our dreams—a Disney adventure filled with relaxation, great food, and a little bit of everything magical. Here’s a peek at what we’ve got planned, along with some tips we’re using to make this an unforgettable escape.

We are starting our trip with a nice looooooong drive all the way down from New Hampshire to Orlando making a quick stop for some shut eye down in North Carolina! From There we are heading to Disney for our first stop: Wilderness Lodge

The Resorts: Rustic Charm Meets Relaxing Luxury

We’re starting our trip at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, a stunning, cozy escape inspired by America’s great national parks. Think roaring fireplaces, pine-lined pathways, and peaceful lakefront views—basically, the perfect vibe for newlyweds who want a little calm before hitting the parks.

Midway through the trip, we’ll switch over to Saratoga Springs, giving us a change of scenery and easy access to Disney Springs. It’s a great move for couples who want to wind down their trip with spa time, shopping, and relaxed evenings.

🔔Tip: Resort hopping mid-trip might sound hectic, but it’s actually a great way to explore more of what Disney has to offer without feeling locked into one vibe. Bonus: you can book massages at both.

The Plan: Relaxation, Parks, and Plenty of Magic

Day 1–2: Easing Into It

We’re starting our honeymoon slow and sweet. After check-in, we’ll explore the resort, maybe a little unwinding after our drive down, and then head to Disney Springs for dinner. We even booked a golf day at Disney’s Magnolia Golf Course on day 2—because yes, it’s a honeymoon, but we still love a little friendly competition.

Day 3–4: Parks and Princesses

Friday brings our first park day with safaris in Animal Kingdom in the morning and Magical Fireworks at Magic Kingdom at night. We’re using Park Hopper passes to make the most of the day, with a lunch reservation at Tiffins and a dinner reservation at Cinderella’s Royal Table—yes, inside the castle. It’s definitely an over-the-top romantic splurge, and we’re not mad about it.

Saturday starts off with a cake decorating class at Disney Springs—something creative and hands-on that lets us slow down. That afternoon, we’re treating ourselves to a couples massage at the Grand Floridian before another evening of Disney Springs fun.

🔔Tip: Want a mix of adventure and romance? Pair a thrill-filled park like Animal Kingdom with a luxe dinner or spa treatment to balance things out.

Midweek Magic: Shows, Spa, and Resort Hopping

Sunday is designed to be a slower, choose-your-own-adventure kind of day. We’ll explore other resorts, enjoy lunch at Geyser Point, and later head to Disney Springs for Cirque du Soleil’s “Drawn to Life.” This show blends Disney animation with acrobatics in a totally unique experience that we’ve both been looking forward to for years but for us? The day starts with breakfast at Topolino’s Terrace at the Riviera Resort—another first for us—and from there, it’s food, fun, and fireworks.

On Monday, it’s back to the parks with a combination of Hollywood Studios in the morning and EPCOT in the evening. We’re especially excited for our 9:05 AM reservation at Savi’s Workshop to build custom lightsabers.

🔔Tip: EPCOT and Hollywood Studios pair well for one-day park hopping. Use Genie+ strategically for morning thrill rides, then relax and explore the World Showcase later in the day.

Wrapping Up and a Coastal Encore

Tuesday is our wind-down day before heading home. We’re leaving it open—maybe golf, maybe a show, maybe even a quick stop at Universal. After checking out, we’re road-tripping to Myrtle Beach for a peaceful post-Disney cooldown. There’s a spa visit on the horizon, beach walks, and one last nice dinner to close out our trip before heading home.

🔔Tip: Consider adding a non-Disney destination to the end of your honeymoon. The beach gives us a slower-paced close to a fun and fast-paced week.

Final Thoughts: Planning a Honeymoon With a Little Magic

Planning a Disney honeymoon is all about balance. We made sure to schedule time to rest, room for spontaneity, and a mix of bucket-list experiences that reflect both of us. From castle dinners and park hopping to spa days and resort hopping, it’s shaping up to be everything we wanted and more.

If you’re planning a Disney honeymoon of your own and need ideas or help booking those special experiences, don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re always happy to share what worked for us and help bring a little more magic to your first adventure as a married couple.

Here’s to new beginnings, great food, and magical memories that last a lifetime.
